Description
This antique watercolor set contains mostly color from the name defunct English brand "Newman's". It is obvious that this set was once used on a regular basis by an artist due to the fact it contains pan ceramics of other brands such as Rowney as well as W & N.Some of the highlights of this set are as follows:
-Orange Lead
-Vermilion (estimated, I have no reason to believe otherwise and this paint cake is heavy too, also there is a Vermilion label in the box)
-Orpiment? (estimated- I am not too sure what this color is, but it was in the slot near an Orpiment label in the box when I got it. One hell of a rare find if it is Orpiment!)
-Chrome Yellow no1
^^^These 4 paint cakes are all very heavy, typical of lead/ mercury/ arsenic based paints. Definitely 4 rare colors as well. The Orange Lead is in great condition!
Also are a few more common colors by Newman's. Comes with some empty ceramic paint pans, and some with a little bit of paint including a Cerulean Blue by Rowney.
A few other random bits in there as well. Everything comes in a nice little compact original wooden paint box likely also made by Newman's. This is the first time ive seen a compact mini set like this from this era.
Perfect for any serious collection!
WARNING- CONTAINS LEAD, MERCURY, ARSENIC!
