After graduating from high school, he traveled to Italy several times, visited the major museums and collections, and did an apprenticeship with an old restorer. In April 1913 he began his studies at the Munich Academy of Arts in the drawing class of Carl Johann Gundahl-Becker. The 4th August 1914 is a turning point. Like so many war enthusiasts, he volunteers and is drafted, but soon realizes how cruel the slaughter of nations is. In June 1916 he was released injured and continued his artistic work. He got tuberculosis. In September 1919 he was admitted to the von Wangen hospital, which he could only leave for a few days before his death. - Small remnants of assembly on the back.
